Campus Rape/Sexual Assault Advocate

Responsibilities
•Provide advocacy services to college sexual and/or dating violence survivors in various areas including, but not limited to, medical, court, law enforcement, and campus settings
•Accompany clients to hospitals, court, forensic interviews, meetings with Title IX Coordinators and/or Title IX hearings on campus
•Provide case management, crisis intervention, and emotional support to survivors and link them to campus and community resources
•Assist clients in filing compensation claims and provide information regarding victim rights
•Collaborate with agency and campus providers to coordinate continued care and support for student survivors and attend quarterly Nassau County Title IX Taskforce meetings
•Participate in sexual and/or dating violence awareness events on campus alongside our Campus Education Coordinator and campus partners
•Participate/assist in the coordination of The Safe Center’s Denim Day event during Sexual Assault Awareness Month
•Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
•Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field
•2 years experience in the areas of crisis intervention, information and referral and support
•Flexible schedule

Bilingual Counselor/ Safe Harbour Coordinator

About the Safe Harbour Project: The project goal is to improve Nassau County’s ability to identify and serve minors at-risk, or victims of sex trafficking, child pornography and/or commercial sexual exploitation. The Safe Harbour program works to increase communication and collaboration among key stakeholders; promote community awareness about the sexual exploitation of children and available services; enhance the service provider’s ability to identify, assess and coordinate the delivery of services; and provide mentorship services to promote successful opportunities for youth and their families.

The Full Time Safe Harbour Counselor will provide individual therapy to minors who are referred to the Human Trafficking Department. This population includes but is not limited to youth involved with services through the Child Advocacy Center, Runaway & Homeless Youth programs, Child Welfare, and Foster Care.

Responsibilities
•Conducts intakes/assessments
• Provides individual and group counseling
• Provides advocacy and inter- and intra-agency linkage on behalf of clients
• Coordinate with Safe Harbour team to support client as they engage in advocacy and/or mentorship programming
• Prepares client services paperwork for Court
• Adhere to confidentiality guidelines
• Maintains and records client records, service information, and other data
• This position requires the use of a car
• Travel may be required during business hours with personal vehicle
• Some evening hours will be required
• Groups will be conducted on and off-site
• Participate in individual supervision and staff meetings
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
•MSW or equivalent degree required. Licensed or eligible for limited permit
• Clinical experience with youth required
• Experience working with survivors of commercial sexual exploitation/child abuse/domestic violence strongly preferred
• Experience in conducting intakes
• Training in trauma-informed treatments and modalities strongly preferred
• Minimum of two years experience in human services programs
• Familiarity or experience in working with runaway and homeless youth, crisis intervention, mental health-related issues, Child Welfare, complex trauma, substance abuse, court involved youth, or sexual violence
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish required

Additional Information
•Salary: $41,00 – $44,000
•Start date: January 1st 2019
•Flexible schedule with possible evening hours required
